Two brothers ยท one home

Renoir&Stickers

They were born on our back porch in May and we've had them every day since. They're three months old, neutered, vaccinated, and looking for one house to move into โ€” the same one.

Renoir and Stickers

Renoir

The talker

Renoir has opinions and he shares them. He'll walk into a room, announce something, and wait for you to answer. He likes being where the people are โ€” same room, his own chair, thanks.

He's the slower one to trust. New people take him a while and a sudden noise will send him off. But once he's decided you're all right, he comes and settles in against your leg and stays there, and it feels like something you earned. He's not a lap cat. He's a next-to-you cat, and it's on his terms.

Darker brown tabby, no white

Stickers

The shadow

Stickers will be in your lap before you've finished sitting down. He likes being picked up and carried around, which is genuinely not a thing every cat tolerates, and he goes limp and purrs when you do it.

He follows you from room to room to see what you're doing. Kitchen, laundry, bathroom โ€” he's coming. If what you want is a cat who is openly delighted to be handled and will sleep on you given any opportunity, that's him, and he's been like this since he was small enough to fit in a hand.

Tabby with a white chest, white paws and a white muzzle

Renoir and Stickers asleep curled into each other in a round cat bed, forming a single circle of tabby fur.

They have never spent a night apart.

Renoir and Stickers wrestle all morning and sleep in a heap all afternoon. Renoir is braver with his brother next to him. Stickers has someone who can keep up with him. Take one away and you'd have two different, sadder cats.

So they go as a pair. That's not a policy we're enforcing โ€” it's just the obvious thing once you've watched them for five minutes.

Ask us about them

Where they came from

A cat we didn't have, in a box we did

Their mom, Snookers, was a community cat who started coming around our yard last spring. We put a shelter box out on the back porch for her, and in May she used it to have four kittens.

We have four kids. You can see where this is going โ€” each of them picked a kitten and named it, and that was that. The whole litter grew up in the middle of our house: weighed, flea-combed, held constantly, and generally treated as family from the first day. They're used to a loud home with children in it.

Two of the four have gone to homes we're happy about. Snookers is staying with us for good โ€” she's an indoor cat now and she's earned it. Renoir and Stickers are the last two, and we'd really like to get this one right.

We're fostering them on paper. In practice they've been our cats their entire lives, which is exactly why we're being a little particular about where they land.

The practical part

Vet stuff, plainly

  • Both neutered.
  • First round of vaccines done โ€” rabies and feline leukemia. Their boosters will come due, and we'll pass along their records so your vet has the dates.
  • Tested negative for feline leukemia (FeLV) and FIV.
  • Both litter box trained and completely reliable about it. No accidents, nothing to work on โ€” they just use it.
  • No adoption fee, and we'll send them with the food they're already eating so you're not switching everything at once.
  • We'd like them to be indoor cats.
